5 Days Gorilla Tracking and Akagera NP

The Tour takes you to Akagera National park a home to lions and rhinos, and is the only big five park in the country. and Volcanoes National park, a home of the Volcanoes National Park a home to the remaining endangered mountain gorillas, which have stayed due to the effort of our Beloved Dian Fossey once the great primatologist, she was brutally murdered in her cabin at a remote camp in Rwanda in December 1985. It has been theorized that her murder was linked to her conservation efforts, probably by a poacher.

Day 1: Village life tour experience

Enjoy a beautiful 2.5 hour drive through dense broad leafed woodlands and sprawling acacia trees. Rolling grasslands dotted with an extensive series of lakes linked by papyrus swamps forming a flat wetland to Murama village. After stretching our bodies we will journey with villagers to fetch water for cooking local lunch and making beverage. After lunch some villagers may tell life experience stories. Arts and crafts are on display.  The day continues with a drive to the Hotel followed by dinner and a good nights’ rest.

Day 2: Akagera National Park Game drive

An early start after breakfast you join your ranger in an open vehicle for your safari into the Akagera National Park. A half day you will absorb the
incredible African outdoors and enjoy seeings elephants, buffaloes, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, burchell's zebra , topi, bush baby, leopard and bush buck. Make sure your camera is working and remember to follow instructions. Return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch its time to enjoy a boat trip along Lake Ihema, where you will have a close look on water animals like Crocodiles and Hippos, coupled with large concentration of bird life; over 525 species identified. Unique species such as Shoe billed stocks and papyrus gonolek can be encountered. Endemics
include the jacanas, ibis, sand pipers and herons. Return to your Hotel for dinner and a chance to discuss today’s sightings! What a memorable day.

Day 3: Akagera – Volcanoes National Park

Start an early drive this morning after breakfast; return to Kigali and connect to Volcanoes National Park in the north for an absolutely unparalleled experience of Mountain gorilla tracking. Check-in at the hotel near the park. Take a walk through nearby forests to nearby crater lakes for scenic viewing, bird watching and photography. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel

Day 4: Gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park Rwanda

At 7:00 am local time, breakfast at the hotel will be ready. 30 minutes will be enough for your breakfast and then transfer to the nearby park headquarters where you will be briefed by park ranger on how to carry out gorilla tracking. Hiking on the slippery and muddy Volcanoes slopes with nettles is quite challenging. But the encounter with mountain gorillas erase all the bad memories! You will be allowed to stay with these close relatives of man (mountain Gorillas) for at least an hour for observation and photography.In the evening visit the panoramic twin volcanic lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Return to your  Hotel for dinner and folk tales at the fire place.

Day 5: Final Day of the Safari
